Wrinkle Filler in Indianapolis: Filling in the Gaps

Wrinkles tend to develop with age, but getting older doesn’t have to prevent you from looking your best. Wrinkle fillers do exactly what you’d think; they fill in wrinkles. These injectables can help restore your youthful appearance by smoothing out wrinkles and adding volume and plumpness to your features.

No two patients of ours are the same, and each person comes in with their own unique needs and vision for self-improvement. Diverse needs call for diverse approaches and personalized treatments. At Turkle & Associates, we provide a wide range of wrinkle fillers in Indianapolis to help you achieve your aesthetic goals, actualize the best version of yourself, and rediscover your confidence—all with little to no downtime.

What are fillers?

Wrinkle fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are a type of aesthetic treatment used to restore volume, plump lips, fill wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of skin folds.

According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, each year, over 1 million women and men get fillers to enhance their features and combat signs of aging. The face is the most common treatment area (cheeks, nose, lips, chin, jawline, under-eyes, etc.), but fillers are also frequently used on the neck and hands.

How do fillers work?

Fillers are injected under the skin to increase volume, soften lines and wrinkles, and help stimulate collagen production. Each dermal filler is formulated differently with varying consistencies, but most are gel-like.

Some of the most common ingredients in fillers include hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA), and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA).

Finding the right wrinkle filler in Indianapolis

Getting the wrinkle filler that’s right for you will depend on your needs and goals, and it takes clinical expertise to guide you in the right direction. While fillers might look interchangeable to the untrained eye, an expert injector knows how to use them to sculpt unique, personalized results.

Allergan Fillers

Made by Allergan, the JUVÉDERM filler collection includes VOLBELLA, VOLLURE, VOLUMA, and JUVÉDERM Ultra XC.

  • VOLBELLA is an injectable clear gel formulated for plumping the lips, addressing lines and wrinkles on and around the mouth, and rejuvenating the delicate skin under the eyes. When injected by an experienced professional, VOLBELLA can last up to 1 year.
  • VOLLURE is a filler designed to smooth the wrinkles around the nose and mouth, typically referred to as “smile lines.” Lasting for up to 18 months, VOLLURE is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance your body uses to keep your skin hydrated.
  • VOLUMA is another hyaluronic acid-based filler that contains a small amount of lidocaine and can last up to 2 years. It’s intended for firming and tightening sagging skin on and around the cheeks.
  • VOLUX is a highly cohesive hyaluronic acid-based filler for the jawline that can last up to 1 year. It can add definition to your jawline as well as adjust your facial proportions.
  • JUVÉDERM Ultra XC is used to treat perioral wrinkles (around the mouth) and plump lips. You can expect your Ultra XC filler to last up to 12 months.

Revance/RHA Fillers

The RHA collection of fillers by Revance is the only hyaluronic acid-based filler approved for treating dynamic folds and wrinkles. Carefully formulated to mimic your body’s natural hyaluronic acid, RHA fillers can be used to treat the lips, cheeks, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds, tear troughs (under the eyes), and marionette lines (oral commissure). Depending on the target area, results can last as long as 12 to 15 months.

Radiesse Fillers

Radiesse fillers reduce signs of aging by smoothing out moderate to severe wrinkles on the jowls, chin, and back of hands, smile lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and the corners of the mouth. Instead of hyaluronic acid, Radiesse fillers use calcium-based microspheres to restore volume.

What causes wrinkles?

Wrinkles are a sign that your skin is losing elasticity and is becoming more susceptible to damage. As you get older, your body will naturally produce less of the collagen, elastin, and oils that keep your skin smooth and youthful. Your fat tends to diminish as well, leading to a loss in volume, which can, in turn, cause the appearance of loose or sagging skin.

Are wrinkle fillers safe?

Wrinkle fillers in Indianapolis are an incredibly safe aesthetic procedure when administered by a qualified injector. Our injectors at Turkle & Associates are all fully certified medical professionals committed to providing the highest-quality care, an exceptional experience, and natural-looking results.

What are the side effects?

The vast majority of our patients tolerate their wrinkle fillers well, but the possible side effects can sometimes include swelling, redness, bruising, pain, and tenderness at the injection site.

Will wrinkle fillers make me look fake?

Dermal fillers, when injected correctly and tastefully, should yield fairly subtle, natural-looking results. At Turkle & Associates and Phases, our goal is never to provide artificial, stiff, or swollen-looking results.

The stereotypes of faces that look plastic and lifeless, or lips that have that fresh bee sting look, are usually the result of excessive or improper use of fillers by an unqualified or unskilled injector. When done correctly, fillers are the perfect solution for taking years off your face and enhancing your natural beauty.

How long do wrinkle fillers last?

While it varies based on which filler is used, how deep the wrinkles are, and how deep the filler is injected, most fillers last at least 6 to 12 months. Some fillers can even last up to 2 years. Though still temporary, fillers are typically regarded as a long-lasting solution for wrinkles, folds, and skin rejuvenation.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

In the days leading up to your appointment for wrinkle filler in Indianapolis, we strongly recommend:

  • Not smoking
  • Staying out of the sun when possible
  • Limiting your alcohol consumption
  • Not using products containing retinol
  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements

How can I make my results last for as long as possible?

To help get the most out of your wrinkle filler results, we recommend:

  • Staying hydrated
  • Limiting your sun and UV exposure and applying sunscreen daily
  • Minimizing stress
  • Avoiding highly processed foods
  • Moisturizing and taking good care of your skin
  • Taking zinc supplements
  • Scheduling maintenance appointments before your wrinkle filler results fade

How are wrinkle fillers different from Botox?

Fillers and Botox are both safe and effective injectable wrinkle treatments, but they work in very different ways. Wrinkle fillers in Indianapolis restore volume due to fat loss and are extremely well-suited for addressing folds. When volume is restored from underneath the skin and folds are reduced, the appearance of wrinkles is diminished.

Botox, on the other hand, is a neuromodulator derived from the botulinum A toxin that is used to temporarily relax the muscles beneath wrinkled skin. By immobilizing the muscles, Botox is able to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and prevent wrinkles from developing or worsening in younger patients.

Can I get a facelift after getting fillers?

Whether or not it’s a good idea to get a facelift after getting dermal fillers depends on a number of factors. Some of these factors include the intended area for the lifting procedure, the placement of the filler, when it was injected, and what type of filler was used.

If you recently got fillers in the same area you need a facelift, you may have to postpone the procedure. However, if the filler you got was hyaluronic acid-based, an injection of the hyaluronidase enzyme can reverse the filler’s effect.

Which is better: fillers or facelift?

The choice between getting fillers or getting a facelift largely depends on the patient’s needs, goals, and severity of their symptoms. For some, restoring smoothness and tautness might be fully achievable with dermal filler injections, though this would, of course, require touch-up appointments for lasting results.

In cases where the patient’s wrinkles and sagging skin are severe, wrinkle fillers might not be enough, and a more permanent solution may be necessary. A facelift might be a good course of action if the skin has lost too much elasticity and the facial structure has lost too much volume to be filled out with dermal fillers.

However, it isn’t your responsibility to determine which is the right option for you! By scheduling a consultation with us, we can take a look at your skin and provide our professional opinion as to which treatment will deliver the results you’re looking for.
