Surgical & Nonsurgical Double Chin Removal

A double chin, or excess submental fat, can significantly impact the appearance of your profile. As many of our patients discover, developing a double chin isn’t always linked to being overweight. In fact, many of our patients have attained their ideal weight and still struggle with deposits of stubborn fat beneath their chin.

At Turkle & Associates, we provide several different treatment options for double chin removal that deliver silhouette-enhancing and confidence-boosting results.

Treatments for Double Chin Removal

Let’s take a look at our surgical as well as nonsurgical options for double chin removal!

Face & Neck Liposuction

Liposuction can be a great way to precisely target and permanently remove excess submental fat by suctioning it out using a specialized cannula. The procedure takes about an hour to perform and costs $3,100 to $3,500. The majority of our patients need up to 3 days of physical downtime to recover and up to 2 weeks of social downtime (avoiding social interactions due to concerns about appearance).

The fullness of a double chin is usually caused by stubborn deposits of fat, but loose skin can also contribute to the appearance of a double chin. When skin laxity is also an issue, face and neck liposuction can be combined with facelifts and neck lifts for optimal results.

Facelift

A facelift is a surgical treatment for reducing excess fat, tightening facial muscles, and lifting the skin to adjust the contours of the lower face, chin, and neck area. Most facelifts for the lower face involve making incisions in front and behind the ears and at the base of the chin.

The purpose of a facelift is to enhance the overall appearance of your face and neck by improving the neckline and jawline, elevating the cheeks, and repositioning things to where they belong. For double chin removal, we sometimes perform a facelift in conjunction with liposuction.

A facelift typically costs upwards of $10,705. You’ll need about a week of physical downtime and up to 4 weeks of social downtime.

Neck Lift

Neck lifts are cosmetic surgeries aimed at creating a slimmer, more youthful-looking profile by removing excess skin in the neck area. While a neck lift can be a fantastic way to combat signs of aging, we seldom perform the surgery on its own. Most of our patients at Turkle & Associates need to get a facelift in addition to their neck lift to see the results they want.

Like facelifts, we often combine neck lifts with liposuction to best target the skin and fat that make up a double chin. The treatment and recovery details for neck lifts are similar to the details previously listed for facelifts.

Kybella

Unlike the other treatment options, Kybella is a nonsurgical option for double chin removal. This injectable treatment destroys submental fat using a synthetic version of a naturally occurring substance (deoxycholic acid). In the weeks following your Kybella injection, the injected deoxycholic acid will begin to break down the submental fat cells in the treatment area, and your body will then naturally eliminate them using your lymphatic system.

Each Kybella injection treatment costs $1,200. The exact number of Kybella treatments you’ll need will depend on your needs, goals, and the amount of submental fat that needs to be eliminated. Most of our patients at Turkle & Associates need 2 to 4 treatments to achieve their desired double chin removal results.
