Double chins are extremely common in people of all shapes and sizes. A popular misconception links double chins exclusively to obesity and weight gain. While these can cause a double chin to develop, they’re certainly not the only cause.

Though many see a double chin as an indication they’re overweight, it often has little to nothing to do with weight and physical fitness. What is double chin liposuction?
Double chin liposuction is a procedure that targets the excess fat below the chin. When performing liposuction on your double chin, your skilled medical provider will create a small incision in the skin under your chin. They will then insert a small metal tube called a cannula into this incision.
Once the cannula has been inserted, the excess fat can be suctioned out. The procedure takes only about 1 hour to complete, and most patients need 2 to 3 days of physical downtime to recover. Social downtime, which is downtime taken to avoid social interaction while you are visibly healing from your double chin liposuction, can be up to 2 weeks for patients who are especially private about their cosmetic treatments.
In terms of cost, you can expect to pay $3,000 to $3,500 for double chin reduction via liposuction. One thing to keep in mind is that loose skin can sometimes play a significant role in the appearance of a double chin, and addressing the loose skin will require additional treatments, either surgical or nonsurgical.
