Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures across the country. At Turkle & Associates we see patients for multiple types of cosmetic breast surgeries, breast augmentation being the most common.
Deciding to get a breast augmentation is a personal choice, and people pursue it for a variety of reasons.
What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a type of cosmetic surgery that involves inserting implants to increase the size and improve the shape of breasts. These implants are made from either saline or silicone. There are various consistencies of silicone including cohesive or “gummy” options.
During an in-depth consultation, we use VECTRA 3D technology to help patients visualize the results from their chosen implants. The device scans the body and shows what the patient’s body will look like after implants.
For the actual surgery, the procedure only takes about 1 hour. Patients can expect a downtime of 1 to 5 days, with full recovery taking about 6 weeks. There is no universal timeline, each patient is different. Your provider will discuss your unique care plan with you and build a treatment protocol that prioritizes your comfort and your results.
The results from breast augmentation can last for decades with proper care and maintenance.
Am I a candidate for augmentation?
There are a variety of reasons that a person would choose to get a breast augmentation. Ultimately, it’s a very personal choice and requires knowledge and support to make an informed decision. Some common reasons for consideration include:
- Asymmetrical breasts
- Naturally small breasts
- Lack of cleavage
What is breast augmentation with a breast lift?
After consultation, the need for a breast lift might have been identified. A breast lift helps to reposition tissues that have begun to sag bringing the breast back to its proper position.
