How It Works
What To Expect
Whether you’re traveling from out of town or are local to the Indianapolis community, Turkle & Associates is dedicated to your patient experience. From your first phone call to your final follow-up, our team will ensure your total comfort and safety.
During your initial consultation for augmentation in Indianapolis, we will fully detail how breast augmentation works. After all, we want you to be fully informed so you feel comfortable in our care!
An in-depth consultation will precede your breast augmentation in Indianapolis to help you understand the procedure, recovery time, and expected results. We will discuss your overall lifestyle, budget, and medical history. From there, we’ll create a care plan that works best for you.
We will also review the recovery process with you in advance so you know how and when to schedule your surgery for a time that works best for your overall lifestyle and upcoming schedule.
Visualizing Your Results
We find many patients have trouble visualizing what their final surgical result will look like and some patients find it difficult to precisely communicate their goals from breast augmentation. In addition, talking about cup size can be daunting as there is no standardization of cup size in the bra industry.
To bridge the gap, we use VECTRA 3D Imaging which provides a general simulation of what you might expect from your surgery.
Surgery and Recovery
Before your surgery Dr. Turkle will talk you through the details of your treatment plan. Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure and the surgery takes about 1 hour.
After your surgery, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing. You’ll need to avoid strenuous activities for up to 6 weeks and you’ll need to plan for 1 to 5 days of recovery at home.

Vectra 3D Imaging
We strive to equip each of our patients with a full understanding of the procedure, anticipated results, and potential deterring factors. That’s why we offer complimentary Vectra 3D imaging during your consultation. Vectra gives you the unique capability to truly see what you would look like with your intended implants.
The Vectra scans your body and simulates imaging of expected results, allowing you to see exactly what you’ll look like after surgery. This innovative technology gives you the confidence to make your final decisions about implant types and size.
Our patients tell us that after a breast augmentation in Indianapolis, they feel much more confident in their overall appearance and are happy with their new silhouette. They also find that their bras and other clothes fit much better than before!
Results are highly individualized. This is because we are able to personalize your surgery to match your vision for breasts. Generally, though, after healing is complete, you can expect larger, firmer, and more aesthetically pleasing breasts.

The Breast Implant Recovery Process
On average, patients take 6 to 8 weeks to recover from their breast augmentation in Indianapolis. The timeline below can give you a general idea of what to expect from immediately after surgery to 2 months post op.
Immediately After Surgery
You’ll spend a couple of hours in a recovery room after your procedure before we send you home. This allows you to wake from the anesthesia and receive your aftercare instructions. You need to have someone to drive you home.
Days 1 to 3
It’s important to rest and take it easy during this time. Refrain from lifting your arms and other unnecessary activities. We’ll prescribe medication to help with pain management.
Days 3 to 5
The majority of your discomfort should be subsiding, although you may still feel some slight pain. By day 5 you should be feeling closer to normal.
Most patients are able to return to work by the second or third week after their surgery. You should continue to avoid strenuous exercise and activities during this time as your body regains its strength. Light walking and normal activities are encouraged as you’re able to encourage blood flow and healing.
By 6 to 8 weeks most patients have made a full recovery and the breast implants have fully settled into their proper position. We take a second set of “after” photos at the 6 weeks mark and again at 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both saline and silicone implants are completely reversible, however, our patients are consistently thrilled with the results of their breast augmentation. During our thorough consultation, we will provide you with resources to understand the anticipated results. One resource we offer is Vectra 3D imaging. Vectra allows you to see a picture of yourself with the augmented size and shape of your breasts prior to the procedure.
Smoking before or after surgery increases the visibility of scarring and causes problems with healing. Therefore, we require that all patients cease the use of nicotine products (including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and all other products containing nicotine). This should last at least four weeks before and four weeks after your augmentation.
Yes. We often combine procedures like a breast lift, liposuction, tummy tuck, and/or labiaplasty with breast augmentation. (After pregnancy, this is called a Mommy Makeover.) You may also get facial plastic surgery done at the same time as an augmentation.
If you are unsure of which procedures you need to best treat your concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with questions! You can also use our Virtual Consultation Tool for instant feedback on which procedures we recommend for your needs.
Breast augmentation, also known as breast aug, breast enlargement, or breast enhancement at our Indianapolis practice is a surgical procedure used to increase the size of a woman’s breasts using either cohesive gel (gummy bear), saline, or silicone gel breast implants. Women may choose to have breast augmentation either to balance and enhance their overall figure, enhance their cleavage, balance different-sized breasts, or as a reconstructive technique following breast surgery. Whatever the specific purpose, women who undergo breast augmentation can expect larger, firmer, and more visually satisfying breasts. You may find an increase in breast size can increase your self-confidence by giving you the figure you have always desired!
Absolutely! The most popular breast implants automatically come with a warranty at no additional cost to you! We are happy to provide you with this information during your visit.
Many patients ask us this question to help themselves decide the time of year they would like to get a breast augmentation. That’s because you are restricted from doing certain activities after your surgery. However, we will review your full instructions for post-care during your initial consultation. Our number one goal is to help you heal quickly and minimize your downtime.
In general, you can expect to be able to submerge in water within 6 weeks after your surgery, or after your wounds are totally healed. Regarding exercise, you will be able to walk immediately after your release, but you should wait about two weeks before restarting any cardio or lower-body exercises. Restrictions will include no lifting, pushing, or pulling anything greater than 10 pounds for 6 weeks after surgery.
We will discuss with you any specific restrictions and help you determine how long to take off work and other duties at your consultation.
Yes, usually. We will discuss this in further detail during your consultation for your breast augmentation.
A pocket is created either underneath the breast tissue or underneath the chest wall muscle. The breast implants are then placed in this pocket. Most commonly, the implant is placed under the muscle. Exact placement of a breast implant will depend on your individual body type and overall aesthetic goals. While both of these placements are options, one may work better than the other for your individual needs. We will discuss the placement of breast implants during your initial consultation to help you make the best choice.
During your consultation, Dr. Turkle will review your aesthetic goals and provide advice on which incisions we need to make. In general, Dr. Turkle has had excellent results over the years with minimizing scarring and helping clients achieve the shape and size of breasts they desire. A few common incision locations may include underneath the crease of the breast or around the areola.
Breast implants are made in a variety of different shapes and projections. During your initial consultation at Turkle & Associates, we will discuss your overall goals and help you select the right shape and profile that will help you achieve those goals. We typically use a smooth, round implant available in a variety of materials, sizes, and profiles.
