Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and confident in their appearance as they age. If you’re starting to notice signs of aging and want to make a change, there are so many options for facial rejuvenation that it can be difficult to know where to start.
At Turkle MD & Associates we value educating our patients about the procedures available to them. Cosmetic surgery is such an individualized experience, that’s why an in-depth consultation is the foundation and starting point for every treatment plan we design. Which type of facelift procedure you should choose is based on what results you are hoping to see.
What is the difference between a full, liquid, and mini facelift?
The main difference between these types of facelifts is found in what issues they treat and which patients are good candidates.
Full facelift
The traditional facelift procedure is a time honored solution to sagging skin on the lower parts of the face.
What it treats:
- Excess skin along the jawline
- Laxity and excess skin on the neck
- Marionette lines
- Mid-face sagging skin
Ideal Candidate: Patient with moderate signs of aging and in good health
Procedure time: 3 to 6 hours.
Recovery time: physical downtime is about 1 week, social downtime is about 3 to 4 weeks
Mini facelift
A mini facelift is great for those who are younger and don’t need as extensive of a lift. The technique for a mini facelift is very similar to a full facelift, though it’s typically less invasive.
For those who’ve already had a full facelift, a mini facelift can be used as a touch up procedure.
What it treats:
- Excess skin along the jawline
- Laxity in the cheek
Ideal Candidate: Patient with moderate signs of aging
Procedure time: About 3 hours.
Recovery time: 1 week
Liquid facelift
This treatment is not so much a “lift” as its name implies, but it does replace lost volume in the face. During a liquid facelift, we use multiple injections of fillers and neurotoxins to rejuvenate various areas of the face. This is the most customizable “facelift” procedure because it’s dependent on what you as the patient would like to see.
What it treats:
- Loss of volume in the lips, cheeks and temples
- Deeper wrinkles or folds
- Undefined jawline
Ideal Candidate: 18 to 21 or older
Procedure time: 30 minutes to 1 hour
Recovery time: 0 days, there may be some bruising
