How long do I need to take off work after my eyelid surgery?

Depending on your specific procedure, we may advise you to take off work for a different amount of time. For example, the downtime after upper eyelid surgery is usually just a few days. However, that can extend up to one week if we are also performing lower eyelid surgery.

You may also want to consider the “social downtime” involved with eyelid surgery. For some, bruising may take longer than one week to resolve. Additionally, once you do return to work, you will need to take great care in protecting your eyes from any harmful contact or irritants.

During your initial consultation for eyelid surgery, our team will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your eyes to help minimize bruising and downtime overall.
